Marketing online,I have found in my years of experience, is a new school altogether.Everyday,it throws up new challenges and lessons.

Of late,I have however been pondering about the greatest challenge an Internet Marketer faces. Is it building a list?Creating in-demand products?or what?

I have however come to the conclusion that the greatest challenge an Internet marketer faces is building trust and credibility.

You see, there is so much distrust of Internet marketers out there by people because they have probably been duped or not treated well by a particular Internet Marketer and so when you come into contact with such a person, your greatest challenge is to convince the person that you are different.

If you succeed,he or she opens his wallet to buy from you,if you don't,too bad.

So,what do you consider the greatest challenge of an Internet Marketer?Replies are welcome.

Hmm nice one. While product creation may be a challenge to many, credibility like you said is major challenge for beginners. Personally, I have overcome that (at least in the Nigerian market). How did I do it??? By giving away free reports and creating a list through which I developed a personal relationship with people. At a point, my e-newsletter was the largest and most successful in Nigeria.

Again many people will say getting traffic is their main headache. I really don't think it should be. If you are ready to spend a little money at the right place, you will get good traffic.

OK. So what do I consider the greatest challenge then? Well for me I think it should be CONVERSION RATE. By this I mean the percentage of your website visitors that you are able to convert into paying customers. Why do I say this?

As a Nigerian Internet Marketer, there is a limit to useful traffic you can get since only a small fraction of Nigerians use the net. So you should be more concerned with making the few visitors you get buy from you.

Most respected Internet Marketers will say once you have a conversion of 2% (2 sales from every 100 visitors) you have done very well. But I've got news for them. With most of my campaigns here in Nigeria, I easily record up to 5% conversion ( I will be telling the world how I do that soon).

So that is my humble submission.

To me I think that credibility stands taller than every other challenge in that the others can be solved easily if you have 'naira chest' large enough. Products can bought i.e resell rights, Master reprint rights, PLR etc. Also list can be gotten either by buying from trusted brokers, advertising online and offline and even some autoresponder services providers can sell trusted list to you at a fair price.
But you cannot buy credibility anywhere. It is hard for people to believe you because of the scams online. But there is a way out. Write good content reports, publish free ezines, submit rich articles and post well researched answers in forums. Within a short time you build trust and then whatever you sell will be bought.
The mistake many newbies in interent marketing make is that that start selling to prospects without first of all building trust.
