Who Is An Internet Marketer?

In your opinion who would you describe as an Internet marketer???

1. The man who is skilled at selling products and services online. This man has an online shop where he sells (physical or intangible) products to people he doesn't have to meet physically. Or he sells his services. Again he helps other people set up and market an online version of their  business regardless of what product or service they sell.

OR

2. The one who teaches how to make money online. The one who writes a 30 or 200 page ebook on how to make money online and makes people buy it from when he actually has never sold any product or service only except that "how to make money online" ebook. Or again he organises a seminar where he talks about "how to make money online".


So again, which of the 2 would you describe as an internet marketer???

The answer to your question is obvious-the first man although more of the second type of Internet Marketers exist but by and large,I consider an Internet Marketer to be someone who has the record of having made money online and can teach others to do same.

Mmmm! I almost chose the 1st option only and then i started thinking.

Toye, the 2nd guy might qualify to be an Internet Marketer even though
he has no products or services (as it were) but he has the skill to put together
information on products and services that are available on the Internet and sells
this information through email marketing, adwords, article writing e.t.c.

I have seen countless oyinbos (and many Nigerians are now doing it) do this and
they smile to the banks.

Look at it this way.

1. I know Toye, Tony and Fastecash fund egold for people. (Assume that millions of Nigerians still don't know you except we on this forum)
2. I go to your websites and gather information on your e-gold services
3. I put the information together
4. I convert my research from MS Word into PDF
5. I set up an autoresponder with my sales copy and of course to capture names and email addresses of people who make a request for the info product
6. I pay any of the newspapers or magazines for adverts which says that interested persons should send a request to my autoresponder.
7. The interested persons like what they have read and pays me for the information which is delivered to them through their email addresses.

Bros, are you saying that this guy is not an internet marketer?

Remember that he has used the internet to promote the product. He used an autoresponder and this is a big tool many internet marketer use to make money.

Sir, with your illustration, I am happy to tell you that you
ended up choosing the 1st option.

Reason is the guy has a product. An information product that
distinctly shows Nigerians how to fund their egold accounts and
probably a comparism of the various companies offering the
service.

With this the guy qualifies to be in the first category. The 2nd
category are those who simply sell "How To Make Money Online"
packages that prey on the desire of the already impoverished
Nigerian to escape poverty.

I think both of you are still saying the same thing. since this man writes or packages an e-book on 'How to make money' that automatically becomes a product and if he applies some marketing techiques to sell this product, he can be called an internet marketer as long as those who bought those products found them useful...

Good words from goo guys, if i may make sense, The real I M  is the man that has a Solution Product or services to market to hungry target customers whom he knows despirately needs the product or services (which can be onlin or offline products or services), and package the products or services prestigiously to get to the targeted end users by searching out where he can get them or entice them in to view his products and services through target customers generators to sell the affordable products and services to them and keep cordial relationship with them more than the products sold or services rendered because he knows that good relationship naturally converts every buyer to free marketer....

Without much thinking i would say that the 1st man is the internet marketer here but maybe after few months or years of being an internet marketer he could decide to move to the 2nd level where he may be called and advanced internet marketer..Did i make sense?hope i did.

In my candid and humble opinion, the No 1 man is a better Internet  marketer.
That is to say that the No 2 man is equally a marketer because his ebook is a product. Whether the ebook or the seminar you claimed he delivers will deliver is another story.
We need not be deceived, experience is the best teacher.
As for me i prefer to go with the No 1 man as my Internet marketer

In my own point of view, internet marketer is someone who market internet or online product, we have some people market their product online but they are not internet market, they just show case their goods on the net but the actual execution is not done on the internet.

Hmm! this is an interesting discussion. The usual me I like to read a discussion like this and understand what it really is about and the main point it brings up. So, with this I'll like to share my own "personal" opinion as follow;

Firstly, I'll think there's no need to argue much on this, as both the no. 1 man and the no. 2 man in @Oyeleke Toye's context qualifies to be an Internet Marketer. Hey! don't crucify me yet allow me to throw more light on that!....lol

I understand the main point this discussion is meant to address but the issue is that the no.2 man (which we all would want to crucify) was not pictured in the right words, i guess.

Like, we all know there's always quacks or better still rippers, in every profession or endeavour, so you would still find no. 2 men who are not fit to be called Internet Marketers, likewise no.1 men and vice versa. Because, as far as we know from this context, there may not be any physical interaction between the two men and their clients, just mostly or totally online.


I hope my point of view is clear!
