Zenith Bank's Master Card Brand (best solution 4 online biz)

I got the info below from Zenith Bank's website, though i've not used it yet, it sounds quite interesting and looks like the best solution for online transactions, here in Ngeria. Probably someone here is already using it, please let us know what it is like.

How to Obtain a Web Surfer Card
Apply and submit request online
Go to your selected branch for pick-up with your reference number issued from the on-line application together with your form of ID. 
At the branch pay cash to teller using the customized deposit slip.
Take copy of your deposit slip to Customer Service for processing and card issuance. Initial deposit is $100 (exclusive of card fees)

Activating a Web Surfer Card
Allow 48 hours (usually would be less) for card activation to take effect.
You will receive an activation e-mail giving you all the relevant details of the card issued to you. Only with these details can you use the card.
 
Note: Be informed that the content of this e-mail is confidential and is known only to you. Protect these details to avoid unauthorized use of your card.
 
Re-loading a Web Surfer Card
Go to any Zenith Bank branch with your Correct Account Number. 
Complete fully the Web Surfer deposit slip and proceed to the teller point with your cash.

Your card will be re-credited within 48 hours. (Usually would be less). Charge per re-load is $5.

Yeah! I think it's both. It's a payment facility because its a Master Card product and it is also an account because it is issued and can be reloaded at Zenith bank.

no what i mean is that can u like operate it like a dom account
and u know cash affiliate cheques with it, transfer funds to your
forex broker outside the country stuff like that

Before i launched http://www.epaypanel.com, I used and tested the online payment solutions myself before commercial launch. That's because I wanted to be sure that what I was telling my customers was what they were gonna get.

But I honestly don't see this thread as an advert. For one i don't
think realmike works with Zenith. I think he just stumbled across
the information and decided to share it with the rest of us (very
good gesture considering that some other people would have been
asking us to pay for the info).

i think we should all take a look at the solution and for those who
have used it, they can share their experience using the card with
us.

Hello everyone
I use a websurfer card and it truely works fine.
Sometimes when you even use it, the foreign company may even call you to confirm your order.
It is a payment facility and a mastercard dollar account is also opened for you.

The websurfer however has some limitations
1.You can't use it to receive funds even though you pay into the account in dollars directly.
2. There are some sites that reject it when you try to use it but after you explain to them, you will be send another link that you can use to pay through it.
It is very easy to get. You can do everything in one day.
Just fill the online form and take the print out to any Zenith bank branch with your dollars and you are through with it.

Zenith also offers the full Mastercard (credit card) and you can upgrade from this Websurfer to the full one. The full one comes with a full dom. account and requires more paper work than the websurfer

I have heard about the card and i have a friend that uses the card  but there is one problem it is not all site that accept the card some websites reject it

that problem happens with all available cards. i don't think
the problem is the card but the IP and address fom which
you are using the card. Once again we are discriminated against
as Nigerians. God help us.

My comment here is not going to be about the content being discussed, but rather about the manner in which it is being discussed.

I want to address realmike here and do hope that we can all learn something from it.  You see, there is what is called 'online ethics' or 'online etiquette'.  It is not acceptable at all on the internet that you type in all caps.  It is regarded as shouting and when you now write a whole message in caps, it can only mean that you are screaming.  It is totally unacceptable online.  I will not define it more than that.

Remember that the person whose post you are reacting to is not the only person who is going to read your post.  Even if he were the only one to read it, it is still not right to write posts in all caps.  It is like you are screaming at the top of your voice. 

Let us also remember that this forum is on the world wide web, meaning that it is available to the whole world to read, not Nigeria alone.  We don't want to send the wrong messages about our persons, do we?

Concerning card rejection on some websites.

This is a problem as the general notion abroad is that all Nigerians are fraudsters until proven otherwise.

However, my experience as an online payments solutions provider has given me insight in dealing with this problem.

For Epaypanel.com, I have several payment options. So if a card is rejected, I check to see if the website owners can accept other methods of payment, e.g. eChecks, Western Union, etc. I recently used Western Union to send out money to a webmaster in Phillipines when the card processor of his website refused to accept the card that I used. It worked. Some sites do not reveal the contact addresses of the owners, but this can be obtained at www.whois.com.

Second option is to open a US bank account. I know of several people that run this business in Nigeria (myself included). With your account comes a Platinum VISA card tied to that bank account. This provides a perfect solution to paying with Paypal, and the other sites that reject cards issued on Nigerian banks or Nigerian IP addresses. However, I do not advocate putting large amounts of money in this account. (Remember Goldlynks? A lot of nigerians are still  )

Another option is to get a normal virtual VISA card, and register it on a US address. Then use a proxy server that masks your IP address, open the URL there and make the payment. However, this is not always successful, as some sites have found ways of navigating the proxy servers to locate the true IP address of the computer being used.

There are many ways to skin a rat. The problem is discovering and perfecting those ways.
